Lucas Edwards (b.1998) is a native to Long Beach, California and a composer. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Global Studies from St. Edwards’ University in Austin, Texas. Growing up surrounded by choral music along with being a singer himself inspires his music. Nature and foreign cultures are also both passions and sources of inspiration for Lucas, who has spent much of his life around the ocean or traveling the world both with family and alone. He has written for piano, string quartet, choir, and other mixed ensembles. He is currently working towards his Master’s degree in composition at California State University, Fullerton under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Walicki and Dr. Pamela Madsen. He also is a Tenor with Long Beach Camerata Singers and has sung with the organization for three years. Lucas is also a section leader at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana, CA. While not studying or composing, Lucas can usually be found spending time with his family and friends or hiking in Orange County.
“I joined LBCS as a choral scholar in 2022 while getting my Master’s degree in Music Theory and Composition from California State University, Fullerton. My recital is an amazing capstone to my time at both CSUF and as a Choral Scholar- there will be many friends I’ve made through Camerata singing the music I’ve written! Long Beach Camerata has given me a wonderful opportunity to make music with such talented, hard working people.”
