Camerata Music Educators Tour Long Beach Schools
PEACE4YOUTH: TEACHING STUDENTS ABOUT ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE THROUGH MUSIC

The Long Beach Camerata Singers completed their PEACE4YOUTH tour to three middle and high schools in the LBUSD. The theme, “The Worth of Water” combined choral repertoire that focused on the theme of water with a narrated script about important facts and statistics. The concert was performed at Jordan High School, Marshall School of the Arts and Hughes Middle School.  Choir students from each school learned music for two of the numbers and joined Camerata to narrate and perform for their peers.

Peace4Youth musical selections were excerpted from the Camerata Peace Project concert held at the Long Beach Arena on October 8th. The powerful choral pieces captivated the audience of students and teachers who responded enthusiastically to the performance.

The highlight for many of the students was the opportunity to engage in a Q & A with the Camerata singers.  The choir inspired the students with their stories of when they first started singing and how they continue to keep music a priority in their lives. The Q & A gave the choir students a glimpse into the potential to pursue their own dreams and to follow their passion for choral music.

CAMERATA CHILDREN’S MUSIC ACADEMY BRINGS A HALLOWEEN CONCERT TO PRE-K STUDENTS

The troupe of Camerata Children’s Music Academy choir members and music educators dressed in silly Halloween costumes and brought an original performance to children ages 20 months through five-years-old to First Friendships, 70th Street Pre-School and Mayne Pre-School.  Focused on the concept of “tempo” with trick or treat as the story’s throughline, the singers performed fun musical numbers that illustrated fast and slow tempos and melody lines using a variety of characters such as a friendly ghost, a spooky witch and a robot who brought the children to giggles. Music is an essential learning skill for children’s healthy development.  Exposure to live musical performances at an early age instills a love and appreciation for one of life’s greatest joys.  The Camerata Children’s Music Academy’s staff bring their passion and expertise to the children while teaching the fundamentals of music in a fun and entertaining way.
