The Catalyst Ensemble returns for a spring concert exploring the intricacies of Latin American Baroque music. This exquisitely crafted recital will trace the impact of folk and indigenous music on western baroque forms.
Join us for this season’s Gala Event, “A Rendezvous of Voices,” as we open our 2022-2023 season and Camerata’s 57th continuous year of bringing music to our community. During this special event, we will honor Community Leader and Philantropist, Mark Guillen; Long Beach Harbor Commissioner Sharon Weissman and the RuMBa Foundation with the Beverly O’Neill Arts and Leadership Award.
Artistic Director Dr. James K Bass, will speak about our upcoming Peace Project 6, “Community,” which will highlight the concerns and issues facing our LGBTQ friends and neighbors.

Enjoy a lively performance of solos, ensembles and chorus as the Long Beach Camerata Singers showcase the talents and personalities of our individual singers. This upbeat event is full of surprises and unscripted moments.

Say “Hallelujah” as we ring in the holidays with this annual tradition, now in its 15th year! This year we partner with the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra and professional soloists to bring you two performances that will be perfect in every way!

Extending the important conversation started in our Peace Project performance, LBCS will perform a fully staged version of this important contemporary Oratorio by Craig Hella Johnson in its entirety. There will be a pre-concert lecture at 3:30pm by Jeff Mack of the Matthew Shepard Foundation.
This performance will also introduce Camerata’s new professional chamber ensemble, The Catalyst Ensemble, to the community.

As we continue to maneuver through our complex world, LBCS will begin our season with an examination of how we co-exist together, with a focus on the LGBTQ community. The concert will be anchored by excerpts from “Considering Matthew Shepard,” as well as other pieces that reflect both the pain and joy of learning to live in our diverse community. The theme of Peace Project VI is “Community.”
